Home again

Parker has had a rough week following our Arizona trip.  First of all she was trying to adjust to the time change.  Then I took her for her 6 month checkup at the doctor and she got some shots.  Then, just to keep things REALLY interesting, we started her on solid foods this week.  So she had a lot of ups and downs…

She did great at the doctor.  She is 16lbs 11oz.  The doctor was amazed at the sight of her walking around and couldn’t believe a baby that young could do that.  She’s nice and healthy and now that we’ve made it 6 full months strictly on breastmilk it’s time to get her used to solids.

I started  Monday with some rice cereal.  She now eats cereal every day and we introduce a new vegetable every few days at lunch.  She had peas and was cracking me up making horrible faces and gagging noises, but then swallowing and opening her mouth up for more.  She looooves sweet potatos and goes nuts trying to get more in her mouth.  Once all the food is gone she cries and wants more.  She’s doing great!

On Friday I took Parker to a ceramics place to meet some friends there so she could decorate a piece for Jared’s birthday (tomorrow).  I can’t say what it is yet because Jared hasn’t seen it, but I think it is going to be really cute when I pick it up!  I’ll post pictures of it next week…

This week we went to hear the outdoor music on Friday AND Saturday.  More people are joining us each week:)  On Friday Lauren and I took Jackson and Parker right up to the band while they were playing Bob Marley and the babies were squealing and laughing.  They had HUGE smiles on their faces and were bouncing up and down.  Then when the next song started they stopped completely and had straight faces.  So apparently they are Bob fans!

Today we took Parker to the pool and she had lots of fun.  I finally let Jared dunk her all the way under the water.  I always hear that they automatically know to hold their breath and it’s good to try it while they are really young but still I felt so bad doing it.  We had the help of some of our neighbors who had put their daughter under the water next to us. Parker cried a little the first time but the second time she acted like she barely noticed.  She’s so cute because she keeps her eyes wide open under the water.

The pictures this week include some of her eating cereal, a few of an apparent new species of insect we discovered on our porch, followed by a particularly horrible cereal experience. There are some of us out listening to music, the day at the pool, Parker eating her sweet potatoes, and playing around (in her new dress from Aunt Cathy:) )
